Acceptable To God

Acceptable to God
For the kingdom of God is not in meat and drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.        (Romans 14: 17-18)
If you have been in church, had someone witness to you or heard someone preach, no doubt you have heard the word of righteousness. What is righteousness? Simply put it means to be acceptable to God. How does one become acceptable to God?
The Bible tells us to that all our righteousness is as filthy rags in the sight of God. (Isaiah 64:6) The same Bible says that our righteousness must exceed the righteousness of all the greatest, most educated spiritual leaders, the Pharisees before we can enter the kingdom of God. (Be acceptable to God) (Matthew 5:20)
The text today tells us that eating certain foods, exercise, etc., will not give us what we need eternally. At the time this scripture was written there were numerous laws for the Jewish people to follow concerning what they could eat and drink in order to be acceptable to God.
In Romans 3:10, God says there is none righteous no not one. These and many scriptures give us a clear conclusion that there is no way humanly possible for any person to be righteousness before God. There is good news though! God Himself provided us a way to be righteous before God! It wasn’t and isn’t something we do ourselves, it is provided for us in Jesus.
Having seen then that we cannot establish our own righteousness we must see God’s way of obtaining it. Now God made Jesus Christ to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him, that we may be made acceptable to God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
God has made us acceptable in the beloved son of God Jesus Christ! (Ephesians 1: 3-6) If we then are already made to be the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ it is therefore a gift and not something we can earn or buy. In order to serve God in righteousness we simply have to see this and stop trying to prove ourselves.  Submit to the righteousness of God. (Romans 10:3)
A lot of people have come to know Jesus Christ or tried to and then begin to live in bondage by trying to prove themselves worthy of His gift. Beloved this is not the way of God! Get it in your heart and mind that God makes us acceptable. We are approved by Him when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord of our lives.
Why then do we change and do righteous after we accept Jesus? Simple, because we are changed on the inside and our nature is different. We are able to serve and live differently because we are different. (2 Corinthians 5: 17)But this does not happen by placing unjust demands on ourselves or by others. It happens because we are new and we have new desires.
(1 John 3:7 Romans 6: 1-6)
Be at rest today in your heart and mind. Ask Jesus to come into your heart. It is God’s free gift to you, His righteousness! Rest in Him. Feed yourself on the word of God, talk with Him, fellowship with God’s people and you will see God work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure! Philippians 2:13
We have seen before that we are made to be the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We then have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Savior and He becomes Lord of our lives, we can be at peace knowing we can be accepted by God. God is not mad at us! He is not looking for some reason to pounce on us and keep us in fear all the time. No beloved, fear is of the devil, peace is of God.
Let me state here that the God I serve is not the same god of Islam. The God of the Muslims is not the same God I love and serve. My God is not a God of destruction, going about blowing things up and killing masses of people. My God sent His Son to die for the masses of people so they could all live. Let’s be sure that we make a distinction here between gods.
There is only one way to have real peace. It is in Jesus Christ. We have peace with God being made part of His family. Because He is the God of peace we have peace in ourselves by His Spirit that dwells in us.   Jesus said that we could never find peace in this present world. The only way we can have it is in Him. (John 16:33) This is why so many people drink alcohol, do drugs, and a host of other things. It is to try and find peace. I myself have consumed enough alcohol to float a battle ship but it never gave me peace. THANK GOD I MET JESUS AND HE GAVE ME A REAL LASTING PEACE! He will do the same for you!
Our peace is a gift from God. God is love! God is good! He saw that apart from Him there could be no real peace for man. He in His love provided peace for us and freely gave it to us in Jesus Christ! (John 14: 27)
As we continue to love and get to know Jesus our lives will produce peace by the Holy Spirit in us. It is one of the fruits the Bible tells us that will be produced. (Galatians 5: 22)
God’s real peace has power within to keep our hearts and minds at rest even in very difficult times.   God’s word tells us to trust God to help us. He says we can pray for His help in any situation and we will get it. (Philippians 4: 6-7) He is always ready to reveal His great care for us as we ask for His life and power to be revealed.
Finally we can have a mind that is at perfect peace when it is stayed on Christ! (Isaiah 26:3) A mind at perfect peace with no turmoil, no aggravation, no conflict of who is in control. This kind of peace in the mind can and will have lasting affects on our whole lives and everyone we come in contact with. Every part of our being will come under the power of God’s peace and bring rest to all.
If you don’t have this kind of peace, please call on Jesus. He will be your peace, your Savior, your healer, deliverer, provider, and every other thing you will ever need or desire. He is waiting for your call!
Serve Christ in peace, this is acceptable to God!
We have seen before that God has made us to be His righteousness in Christ Jesus. We have seen that His peace is given to us who know Him and continue to love Him and serve Him faithfully, But what about Joy?
Beloved if we are in right standing with God and we are abiding in His peace, how could we not have joy? Psalm 16:11 - In His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures forever more! That’s exactly where we are if we know Jesus Christ.    Joy is a direct result of being in His presence.
Jesus said He gave us joy that would remain in us. (John 15:11) In this present world there is no real joy to be had apart from Jesus Christ. One may find fun and laughter, even some pleasure but it won’t last. It all just passes and fades away.
God does not want His people going about with sour faces, never smiling or having fun. The happiest people in the world are Jesus People! The people that are the most fun to be around are the people that really know Jesus Christ! Don’t let the devil and his crowds fool you into thinking that In order to be a Christian you have to give up fun. You don’t! You are born into more fun that you have ever had before. So come on over to the winners side and enjoy life!
There is strength in the joy that God gives. (Nehemiah, 8:10) There is joy in seeing your prayers answered. (John 16: 24) There is joy in heaven when you get born again! (Luke 15:7) There is joy in a life of believing God and walking with Him in faith. There is nothing like seeing all that he does for His people, how He takes care of us and comes to our rescue in time of trouble.
Increased joy is produced in a life of faithfulness and the reward of joy is waiting when life here is completed!
 (Galatians 5:22, Matthew 25: 21-23)
Even in times of persecution and extreme trails, we that know Jesus can rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory! Hallelujah! (1 Peter 1:8)
Joy is a gift from God like righteousness and peace. God has many gifts for all who will call on Jesus and become His. If we serve Christ in these- righteousness, peace, and jot in the Holy Ghost then we are acceptable to God.
My friend if you don’t know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord it is time for you to come home to Him where you belong.
If you are born again and you are not enjoying Jesus, it is time for you to be set free and filled with the Holy Ghost and walk in the Spirit as you live in the Spirit!
It is not hard to serve Christ. It has been made open and clear to you in this teaching. Come on and find out what else is in the Father’s Heart!
