New Things

Here we are again in another New Year. People are celebrating, singing songs, expressing greetings of cheer and passing on hopeful expressions of happiness for the New Year that has just begun. Yet, in a few days a great many people will be back in the same routine and things won’t seem new, but rather old and heavy and wondering if things can ever be new and stay that way. Christians seem to be, for the most part, the hardest people to change routines and begin new and stay fresh. .
We can never see new times in newness and freshness as we ought to until we leave the old that has hindered us and kept us in bondage in the past. If you are among those who can’t seem to get a new start and keep on going in freshness of life, maybe it’s because you haven’t left the old behind.
(Hebrews 12:1-3).., let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down on the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him--- lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
That’s what happens to us when we focus on all the weight and sin instead of on Jesus. We get wearied and faint in our minds and instead of seeing that all things are possible to them that believe- we begin to see all things as impossible.
The Word of God tells us that if we are in Christ old things are passed away. (II Cor 5:17) Paul said before he could reach forth to new things, he must forget those things that are behind. (Phil. 3:13)
So I encourage you to let go of all old baggage that you’ve carried from the past year and maybe many years. Believe with me that you can and will receive newness and freshness in your life as a person and most of all as a Christian. So take some time now and repent of sin, let go of hate, unforgiveness, bitterness, strife, envy, guilt, shame, fear, sickness, and disease. Let go of manipulating others- and doing things your own way. Begin to let God lead your life by His Holy Spirit. Let go of vain imaginations, seeking self exalting ambition, let go of all the old and declare yourself to be free in Jesus Christ! For where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty! (II Cor. 3:17)
Now let’s pray:
Father we pray in the name of Jesus for your grace and mercy. We repent of allowing ourselves to be weighed down by things of this present world and sins of the flesh that are contrary to your nature and life. We ask forgiveness and cleansing. We ask for the Holy Spirit to fill us and empower us to overcome, lead us and teach us the right way of God. Please help us be teachable and learn. Now we receive in the name of Jesus Christ our lord and we are free! Hallelujah!
Begin this week to say these scriptures to yourself- print them out and keep them with you. Go over them again and again so that they get down in to your heart and your mind. Be sure to thank and praise God for His freedom!
