How Great is God?

When we say “God” most people know who or what we are talking about or at least they think they do. Most often the word “God” just becomes a byword or in many cases a curse word. The Hebrews reverenced the name of God so much they wouldn’t even say it or write it.
Many people reading this are professing Christians and would never purposely dishonor God in anyway. For this I give thanks.
In our everyday lives we have a tendency to loose touch with how great our God really is. If I ask you today, how great is God, what would your answer be? It would be really hard to explain in words wouldn’t it? Then let me ask you, how great is God in your heart? I have found that my life will be a direct image of how great God is in my heart.
When I read that God created the heavens and earth and all that is in them, I see God as being so great He can create or recreate anything. (Gen. 1:1; 31)
When I read that all He created, He created for His pleasure, I can see in my heart God’s great desire to take pleasure in me and in my life. No matter how  I might mess things up at times, I still know in my heart that my God wants me to come to Him and reason things out so He can begin to take pleasure in me again.( Is 1:18-19)
I see how God always takes care of His people, providing food, clothing, shelter and even healing when sickness threatens. What a great God!
As I read the Bible, I find that God is a God of miracles. Page after page speaks of God’s mighty deeds on behalf of His people. It makes faith rise in my heart so I am ready to believe God for anything!
The life of Jesus Christ testifies of the greatness of God. He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38)
When asked to show God to His followers, He said, if you have seen me, you have seen God. (John 14:8-9) Scripture further states that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
How do we describe how great God is? To me it’s told in words but also in living. My mouth tells of His love for me and you. My life is an epistle for you to read. My God is great and greatly to be praised.
It is amazing to me that this great God of the universe would want to live with and in me, in us. What an amazing love God has for us!
This God I’m speaking of is the only true wise God and there is none like Him!
His great desire today and everyday is for you to know Him, to love Him, to walk with Him, talk with Him, to be His and Him to be yours. (II Cor. 6:17-18)
It’s really simple. Call on Jesus to come in your heart and just see how big and great God becomes in you!
