Giving God our Best
No doubt by this time many of you have made your New Year’s resolutions and most of you have probably broken them already. You, perhaps want to be a better person or rid yourself of some habit. While you are to be commended for your desire and effort, it is rarely ever done by making New Year’s resolutions. But then there is a resolution that will work every time.
Resolution= the act of resolving, state of being resolved, analysis, fixed determination, constancy of purpose, solution.
You see by the very definition of the word resolution, there must be in it the solution. And that solution comes by giving one’s best to solving the problems when proper analysis has been made.  Nothing can have the proper solution unless proper analysis has been made to determine the root and source of the problem and the correct act of resolving followed by fixed determination and constancy of purpose to achieve the correct solution.
When the people of Israel were brought back to their homeland after seventy years of absence, they were instructed to rebuild God’s temple that had been torn down. Instead they built their own houses first and left off following God’s instructions. God’s word to them by the prophet Haggai was to consider their ways. Look at how life is going for you and see that things are not in good shape. Your not prospering in the promises of God, but you can be if you turn, give God your best and follow His orders. Hag. 1:2-11
Again in Malachi the people were reprimanded for not giving God their best in tithes and offerings. They were bringing the sick, lame, and blind to god and keeping the best for themselves. Mal. 1:6-8
How often are we guilty of these mindsets? We give God our leftovers instead of our best. Our church attendance filtered down to an occasional Sunday and/or certain holidays or special occasions. Our service to god feigns away to little or no activity. Our tithes go for some new toy, the latest technology etc. Our worship dribbles out like a leaky faucet. Our devotion, study and prayer become more like dog’s whimpers than love, faith and fellowship.
God’s mindset toward this is offer this way to your employer or the government and see if they will accept it. Just look at the way your money seems to fly out the window and you have nothing to show for it. Simply examine why you can’t seem to get God’s help in situations where it used to be so easy for you. God is not pleased with our leftovers; He desires and deserves our best.
Perhaps we should wake up from the spiritual sleep we’ve been in and see what is really important.
God’s promises, bring the best in tithes and offerings and He will open the windows of heaven and pour out the blessing on us. He will rebuke the devourer for our sakes. Mal. 3; 10-12

God says, go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the house and I will take pleasure in it and be glorified.
Now god is not so much interested in a house made with men’s hands as He is the spiritual house of our bodies and lives. Romans 12: 1-2 tells us to offer our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1 instructs us to come out of the world of compromise and uncleanness for God desires to dwell in us, walk in us and be our God and we His people.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
He deserves our best, let’s give it to Him!
