Our Faithful God

Our Faithful God

"Let us hold fast the profession of faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised." (Hebrews 10:23)

Having just finished the Thanksgiving weekend, my tummy being so full of my wife's more than excellent cooking, I am very thankful for all that God has done in my life. Sitting back to let some of the food settle a bit, my mind started to wonder how many people are truly thankful for God's blessings. How many people really have a grateful heart and take the time to say so.
Remembering almost thirty years of ministry in which my wife and I have dealt with people from every walk of life, I recall many people which asked, "Why should I thank God? What has He ever done for me?"  Even some professing Christians have little to no good thing to say about God working in their lives.
People who know me and have been around me for more than a few minutes will testify to my eagerness to tell of God's faithfulness to my family and me. Now here is where it all lies; It is in God's promises and His faithfulness to His Word. Jeremiah declared that God's faithfulness is great. (Lam. 3:23) John tells us that when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9) Then, we are shown in the Psalms that this faithfulness of God extends to all generations. (Psalms 119:90) I do not know about you, but from where I sit that is enough to be forever grateful!! The great salvation of God is so amazing and powerful! Only God can reach into a wretched heart and life like mine was (and many of you reading this) and take out a stony, black with sin heart and then put in a new, clean one! The Psalmist put it this way, " He took me out of a horrible pit, set my feet upon the Rock of Himself, established my goings with purpose an put a new song in my mouth that comes from a heart of gratitude, even praise unto my God! (Psalm 40:1-3) "God is faithful!
It that were not enough, He then has made Himself available to help us in every situation of life. He is faithful to answer when we call. (Psalm 143:1, Hebrews 4:16) All of God's counsel to us is faithful and true. (Is. 25:1)
God has made promises to us so that we can know that He will keep His Word. He has written these down for us in the Bible so we would know that He would not change His Word (Psalm 89:34) God is true and cannot tell a lie. (Heb. 6:18) He can be trusted! All of His promises are made sure to us through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ! (II Cor. 1:20)
God has been more than faithful and true to my family and me! We have only good things to say about Him!  My wife Pamela sometimes sings a song, Jesus Never Fails and another called, I've Got so much to Thank Him For. How true that is! Or lives, and the lives of many others  testify to God's faithfulness.
Now, everyone's attention will go to getting ready for Christmas, where people will again partake of and enjoy the blessings of God. I   encourage all of you to begin now to acknowledge our faithful God, to give Him thanks, praise and the glory that He rightfully deserves! Amazing things start to happen  in people's lives when they become grateful to God for life itself, salvation and all the other things that He has and is doing for you.
May I invite you today to give your life to Jesus Christ? Bring all the problems, all the difficulty, all the pain, all the mess and lay it at His feet. He will accept you when you accept Him! He will begin one by one to turn every ugly thing into beauty! You too will see and know my faithful God!
