Choose Life

Choose Life

Moses the great man of God had gone into Egypt as God had instructed him and brought out the Israelites with many signs and miracles. He continued to lead them in their wilderness journey also with many signs and wonders. But just prior to his departure and their entry to the promised land, Moses rehearsed all that had happened and then gave them an opportunity to make the right choice.
In Deuteronomy 30:15-20, Moses put before the Israelites this challenge: "See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;" (V. 15.) "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live." (V. 19).
"Now this is the choice to make, that thou mayest love the Lord thy God and that thou mayest obey His voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for He is thy life and the length of thy days" (V. 20).
All our lives are made of a series of choices we have made. One may profoundly affect us more than another, but one choice alone did not shape our lives into what they are today. Our lives are an open display of life and blessing or death and cursing.
Wrong choices become habits and ways of thinking that become so much a part of us that it becomes a weapon in the hand of satan to control our lives by our own habits and thoughts.
Likewise right choices become habits and ways of thinking that God can use to lead (not force) us into the blessing of God. The choice is ours.
But making right choices is not hardly possible without the light to do so. The Bible tells us that there are blinders on our hearts and minds that keeps the light from shining in us so we can make the right decisions. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) (Eph. 4:17-18).
When we hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, it will remove the blindness so the light of the glorious gospel can shine in and the most important choice we will ever make is possible. That is that we choose to give our hearts and lives to Jesus Christ and He becomes out Savior and Lord. In Him is Life and the Light of men!
Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the Life. I am the bread of Life." He also said "the thief cometh not but for to steal, to kill, and to destroy, but I am come that ye might have life and that ye might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10).
When we make the right choice of Jesus Christ, the Bible says that God gives us a new heart. (Ez. 36:26). With a new heart we are able to start walking in the right way, the way of righteousness which pleases God. You see we couldn't do that before because we made the wrong choices without Jesus.
With this new heart we can begin to love people the right way and see our lives completely change. Our circle of friends will change and some of our old friends will change too.
Setting our love on Jesus will affect our lives and the lives of people around us.
With a new heart comes the promise of a new mind; a renewed mind that thinks like God...A mind that can make the right choices about life every day...a mind that is renewed is a mind that is fed by God's word and the right ways of God. In His word we'll find everything we need to live right, think right and make right choices.
