They Were All filled With the Holy Ghost and Began

They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and Began…..

When the day of Pentecost was fully come we find the events recorded in Acts Chapter 2. Then we see the church that Jesus said He would build began to be built.
They in the upper room (120 of them) were waiting for this supernatural gift and power from God to come to them just as Jesus had told them. (Acts 1:4-5&8)
Now when they were filled with the Holy Ghost a multitude were gathered to find out what was going on and the 12 apostles stood up and began to preach.
They began first to proclaim what this wasn’t. It was not an event of the flesh; it was not made to happen by man made means. Though the appearance of joy being expressed made some think they were just drunk and having a party, Peter was careful to explain that this is not that at all but something quite different.
Today there are many that still can’t tell the difference between a man made expression of the flesh and something that is of God. The fullness of God’s Holy Spirit produces such life, joy, power and excitement that those who have it just can’t keep it contained. It has to be expressed! We have been mocked, criticized, called the devil, made fun of, talked about, shunned and a whole host of other things but the fact remains that the fullness of the Holy Spirit produces life and power in those who have it.
And unless one is in the number that is confounded, doubts, and doesn’t understand, one should begin to ask what does this mean and how can I get it? The fullness of the Holy Ghost is not something that can be learned, earned or gotten form others. It is the gift of God to His believers. It is the power for service and the power to overcome. Without this precious gift believers can live only second best to what God has for them.
After the multitude was told what this wasn’t, they were told what this is. “This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel (Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:16-21) so then the baptism of the Holy Ghost was first prophetic, being promised by God, spoken by His prophets. We are told throughout the Bible of people having the spirit of God. People like Abraham, Moses, David, the prophets. However the spirit that was in them was not a residing spirit. The Holy Spirit did not come to stay and dwell in them, nor did the anointing stay on them. But what they had was an anointing for a certain office or task if you will and when not performing that task or filling that office they had no anointing and no power to live overcoming lives. That is why we see so much of their flesh nature recorded in scripture. They could not live in power but today we can! Jesus, as the prophet promised that we would have power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon us.(Acts 1:8) This gift and promise was not only told of the prophets before, it was told by Jesus Himself. (Acts 1:4-5)
The law given to Moses foretold of this great coming and need for the Holy Spirit. He was shown in the oil that supplied the lamp stand so the light could shine. When the light was shinning the bread could be seen and that is the Bread of Life, which is Jesus! So when Jesus said let your light shine so men could see your good works and glorify your Father, He was saying to be full of the Spirit so you can shine. (Matthew 5:16) When Jesus said that power would be received when the Holy Ghost is come upon you, He said this happens first and the result of that is being a witness in all the earth. (Acts 1:8)
Now the Holy Ghost was coming on the day of Pentecost whether anybody was in that upper room or not. They were told to be there and wait until He came before they started the all important work of being the church. They were in the right place at the right time doing the right thing and when the Holy Ghost came---they received. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began.., the first thing they began to do was speak with other tongues as the spirit gave the utterance. The first thing we all have to do is yield ourselves to the Holy Ghost. If they needed to be filled before beginning how much more do we need to be today! So if we start praying and obeying, seeking for the fullness of the Spirit so we can shine with power and help to cover the earth with the gospel ,we will receive and began just as they did!
This scripture says that the spirit is to be poured out on all flesh. Many think this is just going to be a sovereign move of God whenever He decides to do it. However this is not the case. The Spirit is to be poured out in relation to the preaching of the gospel. He said this is that which Joel said. The Holy Ghost came to them as the early rain for the beginning of the church. The latter will come on us so the harvest of the earth can be gathered.
Look at James 5:7 the husbandman (God) waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth. He hath long patience for it until He receives the early (their outpouring) and latter (ours) rain. (Zechariah 10:1)
So then beloved the day of Pentecost is fully come and the Holy Ghost has come from the presence of the Lord to empower His people to be the light of the world- to be His witnesses- to carry the gospel to the world- to do the works of Christ and greater works because we have been given the command, the power and the privilege. How about you? Are you full? Ask and ye shall receive, so you can begin! (John 14:12, 16:7-16, Luke 11:13, Acts 8:15-17, 9:17, 10:44-48, 19:1-7)
